LABORATORY PROCEDURES FOR ANIMAL & HUMAN CELL LINES Appendix REFERENCE NO: AHC/1998/4/1 Appendix 2 TITLE: SPECIAL PERMITS For importation of cell lines into some foreign countries, some permits are mandatory (see section 1 for National and International regulations) Example from DSMZ: USA: The importation of biological materials is regulated by United States Federal Law. Failure to obtain the appropriate permit may result in confiscation of a shipment at the port of entry. The United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) has imposed restrictions on the importation of cell lines and animal fluids into the United States because of the potential importation of animal pathogens. For specific instructions on import requirements, contact the USDA at 301-734-8695.
